Glass Computer Desk

Well yesterday my niece was here and I usually don’t have many things on the desk, just my computer and a few books, so there’s a lot of space free, every time she comes she always gets on top of it and jumps to the bed, even though we tell her not to. The glass is about 1/4 inch thick, she’s 4 years old but yesterday the glass cracked a little from the side. Later that day the crack was bigger and this morning every thing’s the same, should I stop using the desk?

I want to get a fresh new computer desk and was wondering if some of you could help me look for one. I want something very cool and modern looking. It could either be all white or all black, but I’d prefer it to be a high contrasting black and white, no other colors. I also don’t want a glass top as I don’t trust the weight of my computer tower sitting on top of glass, and I don’t want to put my tower on the floor. If possible I’d also like it to be a sort of wrap-around desk, like an L shape.

I don’t want to spend any more than 0.

I woke up in a state of panic. I could feel beads of sweat forming on the back of my neck. It took me a moment to realize that it was a dream, not reality. I sat upright in my bed for a moment, churning over the quickly fading details of my nightmare in my mind before getting up and walking over to my bathroom. I turned on the light and squinted, waiting for my eyes to adjust. I leaned over the sink, and looked in the mirror at my tired face. When was the last time I slept through the night? It must have been weeks, and it was obvious. My usually hazel eyes had faded to a muted brown color, accompanied by dark bags. The discolored puffy lids that hung over my bloodshot eyes contrasted with my pale skin and freckles, only making my sleep deprivation more obvious.

I turned on the faucet and let the water run for a few seconds, absentmindedly running my fingers through the stream. Leaning in, I splashed the cool water onto my face, and then turned off the faucet. I grabbed a hand towel from under the sink and patted my face dry. After standing in the fluorescent light of the bathroom for a few more seconds I turned around, flipped the light switch back down, and walked over to my bed

I lay down and closed my eyes tightly, as if doing so would somehow help me concentrate. I kept seeing green eyes. They were perfectly in focus, but their owner was not. They looked like two emeralds suspended in a shadow. That wasn’t the scary part of dream though, more like the only comfort in it. After another few moments of thought I remembered that there was a scream, it averted the emerald eyes from me… left me alone. I quickly pulled out my journal hoping that if I wrote down what I could remember, more would come. As I wrote, small details began to reappear in my mind, and the faded memory became more in focus. After I wrote until no more new memories came I put my journal back in my nightstand drawer and lay back down. I stared up at the speckled white ceiling trying to remember more. I closed my eyes again and started to see the fuzzy remnants of a room.

It was a pale yellow room, not unlike my own, but instead of a TV, night table, and modest queen sized bed inside it, there was a huge white canopy bed with no other furniture. Next to the canopy, stood a blurry figure; the one with the green eyes, but the figure wasn’t the only person in the room. I could hear someone breathing behind me, but for some reason, I didn’t turn around. That was when I woke up.

I figured I might as well stay awake since my dreams wouldn’t let me sleep anyway. I got up off my bed and walked out of my bedroom into the hallway leading to my tiny insufficient kitchen. Passing the electric stove and fridge I looked straight ahead at the computer. The “office” was just a tiny alcove in the kitchen that my mom designated as the “computer area.” She had fit a clear glass desk into the nook, but instead of a wall behind it, there was a large window that overlooked the backyard. The only item on the desk was my massive, outdated computer. I contemplated chucking it in exchange for a laptop, but that thought was fleeting. I looked up past the computer and stared out the window. I couldn’t see anything, but I still stared, as if I could.

I pressed the glowing on button on my computer, watched it change from red to electric green, and waited for the screen to awaken from sleep. I opened up my browser and clicked on my email. No new messages. It wasn’t surprising; I had only last checked it a few hours ago. I opened up my music player and turned on a slow melodic song. Ignoring my empty inbox I typed dream symbolism into the search bar at the top of the page. After about an hour or so of reading about archetypes and the inner-self I gave up and resorted to watching TV. I walked back through the kitchen and into the living room. I groped the wall trying to find the light switch in the darkness and turned it on. Even though I’d lived there for two years I was always a little shocked by the red walls. After a moment of adjustment to the new light I walked lazily over to the fire place and turned on the gas. I watched the inside left corner of the fake wood waiting for the gas to ignite. As it did, quickly sweeping from the left corner over to the right with a sizzle, I began to feel its heat emanating from the barrier of glass in front of it. I decided not to watch TV. I was content with my warm little fire so I lay down on my back, put my feet up to the glass, and tried to unwind. My tired mind began to daydream and I relaxed my muscles in the warmth of the fire. I placed my hands behind my neck and tilted my head into my left palm toward the balcony.
There were the eyes.

My mom was in the dream as this man’s wife/secretary and she looked happy and was way up high in this office building. She looked like Anne Hathaway with long hair and make up and young looking. (she recently got divorced and had cancer.) The man’s office was made of all glass. The desk was glass, the computer, the chair…

I have a colored glass Geico figurine that I like a lot.

The dorm building used to be a hotel so I have my own bathroom and kitchen to decorate too. The dorm allows pets so I brought my cocker spaniel so I would like a cute way to incorporate her bed and crate. I can replace any of the furniture with my own so I bought a glass, L shaped desk so I can have my computer on one side and I have room to write on the other. My school allows candles and I love candles. I usually choose scents based on the season so now I’m looking for cinnamon, apple, pumpkin, vanilla, etc.

I kinda want my room to feel like a garden but I don’t want all the bright random colors that most decor aimed at dorm dwellers feature.

I can paint my dorm as long as the paint is low or no VOCs.

We have medium colored laminate wood floors and I want espresso furniture.

my mom said something was wrong with my computer,
so when i went to go look at it i couldnt believe it.
the whole screen has a bright pink tint to it.
i am currently wearing sun glasses because i would be blind
with out them. its not just the back round on my screen savor,
its like everyhting. even this page right now is pink. and it
really hurts to look at. what is it? is it a virus?
i already checked the colors on my main menue and everything
is alright..

earlier today i googled some back grounds i could put on my desk top.
i saved them onto a folder…. could that be the problem?

Another member and I have some, ummm, "phone fun" and occasionally get toys for each other. Today he had me collared, leashed to the computer desk and using the ben wa balls he got me. Then he wanted me to use this monstrously huge glass toy with little nubbly things all over it he bought me for my birthday. I did and it was great, but I had the strangest "O" Ive ever had. IDK if it was due to the length of the toy, like it just hit a new spot, or the nubbly things, or the balls or the hotness of being collared, but this was a really intense, deep O that Ive never experienced before (and I like to think Im a connoisseur of orgasms) and Im wondering wth happened? I’ve never felt anything like it before…. Im not complaining, it was great! I just want to be able to repeat this sometime in the future.
Any ideas what this was?

I have a friend who basically all she eats is junk food. She has mc donalds or other fast food place like almost everyday and takeout. She doesnt drink any water or she might have like less than 1 glass a day and just drinks soft drinks. she doesnt do ANY exercise whatsoever, she just sits at a computer/desk or watches t.v all day. She doesnt eat vegetables or anything green and she eats like double the amount of me which is a lot. She doesnt eat breakfast or if she did it would probably be like heaps of bacon or pancakes with icecream and cream or some chocolate muffins. then she might have like a packet of chips for snack or chocolate and then french fries or a combination of lollies, chocolate, chips, etc (basically every junk food you can imagine) and then she might have like some more fatty foods throughout the day and then for dinner she will prob have mcdonalds or kfc or some takeout and then she has like chocolate, chips or basically a whole range or fatty foods before she goes to bed. Yet she is one of the skinniest people I have ever seen – shes 5′4 and weighs just under 90 lbs. Why is her matabolism so fast and just doesnt slow down at all?
By the way no one else in her family is thin she is like the only one.

Our house is joined to another house on one side, and half joined on the other side. There is a private alley in between us and the neighbors but they use it more then us. My house starts with a small hallway with cream walls and a brown wooden floor, a glass door leading into the through lounge….the first part is the dining room which has a table, 4 chairs, computer desk, and 2 cupboards & a fireplace, it has cream carpet aswell. Then the other end is beech wooden floor, pink sofa’s, tv, another fireplace & a corner cabnet and cream walls. Behind one of the sofa’s is a patio door which looks into the small conservatory. Next to the other sofa is a glass door leading into the small kitchen which has sink, oven, hob, small fridge, and a few cupboards. In the kitchen there is a bricked archway leading into the conservatory which has a freezer, tumble dryer and a sofa. Both the kitchen & conservatory are cream walled.

The stairs are cream carpet & the hallway upstairs has cream walls and cream carpet with 5 doors. The first door leads into the bathroom with cream tiles, and cream floor tiles, a cream toilet and a cream sink, and a wooden bath with a silver shower in it. Also a glass shelve and a mirrored cabnet upperbove it, and in the toilet a built in cupboard with towels and lotions inside.
The first bedroom has cream carpet and lilac walls. It is average sized. The second bedroom has cream walls and cream carpet and 3 sliding mirror wardrobes. The 3rd bedroom has coffee carpet and brown/beige wallpaper. The 4th door is an upstairs cupboard with the boiler inside. We have a loft that has pull out stairs but the loft is not decorated, it has xmas deco is it and things.

The garden is small, it has brown decking leading to cream pavement leading to a step that has a shed and some grass.

So whats your opinions?

Get a computer desk
Get a really low, small, round table
Get a small table lamp
Stuffed Cat animals
Put Harry Potter, Twilight, and hannah montana posters in my room

A big desk with drawers
two or three fur rugs
A small, plush beanbag chair
Get a computer (I have one)
Make the carpet Dark or light brown (which one?)
A square, maybe glass coffee table
A TV (i have one)
Photos of me and my best friend, family, pets (Photo frames??)
A movie cabnit
A small jewerly box
A round, small bedside table
Cord phone (I have one)
Colleges of things I draw myself
A radio (that plays Cds)
An alarm clock (I have one)
A board (To put magazine articles, school notices etc. on)

So a while ago my mom broke this square piece of glass. She put the two halves in the little trash can next to the computer desk. So today, I turn around in the chair and slam my knee into the sharp edge of one of the halves. it went pretty deep. I fell and held my knee for a while because it hurt like slamming your leg into a table. I didn’t even notice i had actually cut myself until I saw the blood running down my leg. There’s no glass in my leg but considering how thin the skin is on your knees I’m worried that the edge of the glass may have hurt the bone. I can’t walk on that leg now because it hurts to put any kind of pressure on it. What should I do?

I was sitting at the computer doing my research paper when I saw something on the computer desk.. I went to pick it up, and it was glass. I cut my thumb on it.. not a deep cut though.. and no glass is stuck in there.. Well, I saw the blood coming, so I went to the bathroom to put water over it because that helps stop the bleeding.. then I wrapped my shirt around my finger (my shirt is clean.. just washed yesterday, actually) and placed pressure on it.. I went back into the room and this is what happened:

- My eyesight went BRIGHT.. everything was bright.. it looked like a huge light was in front of my eyes…
- I went dizzy.. I was holding onto the door handle to keep me balanced…
- I felt like I was going to puke…
- My hearing went muffled.. and there was a loud ringing in my ears.. it made it hard to hear..

I told my sister, and she told me to lay down because I probably just got up too quick… Then it all went away.. then 5 minutes later, I got up SLOWLY and went to the kitchen… then it started again.. all the same symptoms, except, this time, my muscles went weak and gave out and I fell on the floor.. then I started really panicking.. I was yelling for my sister and she came out of the bathroom and she told me to calm down, and that panicking isn’t helping, and to get onto the bed and go to sleep… so again I went to the bed.. and I layed there for a good, I say, 10 minutes… and now I’m on here.. I tested to see if it would happen again and it hasn’t..
This is the first time it has happened to me.. I do not have anything medically wrong with me.. the worst thing I ever had was a terrible cold..

Did I just almost passed out? and if so, why? =[

is it bad if i have my computer desk right beside my window and using my steelseries headset???? can anythign happen? also can lightning go thru glass

Okay I spilt about half a glass of water all over my computer desk and a few drops dripped behind the desk to a few wires. When I put my hands behind the wires were not soaked in water but about two wires felt wet so I got a towel and wiped all the wires so now they’re dry and wiped the entire desk. I’ve felt all the wires and desk again and it seems dry. None of the water fell on the computer as it’s all the way tucked in the desk.

Do you think it’s fine now? When I spilt water all over it shouldn’t the damage have been done there and then and the computer gone off or something?

I drank from the glass last night, and I’m just so scared for me and my mom I drank from a straw but I picked it up to take it to the computer desk, I heard about it at the 11 o’clock news and me and my mom were like O.O at each other I’m just so scared I’m 13 and I really don’t know if I’m more vulnerable to get more sick then my mom. I’m getting a little sick listening to this right now or maybe it’s the glass thing I know I should call a professional but idk I need some ones guidance

After waking up from a short nap I poured me a glass of chocolate soy milk walked over to my computer went to put the cup on my desk and what do you know it slips right out of my hand and half the soymilk ends up on the keyboard. So I grabbed a towel and put the keyboard upside down on the towel to dry while everything is still on (stupid i know). Then I noticed the monitor goes into sleep mode so after I clean everything up and clean off the keyboard as best as i could i tried turning on the monitor and it says that there is no response and that its going to sleep mode again. Keyboard light isn’t on so im sure i killed it. The mouse isn’t lighting up as well. Restarted my computer a few times seems like it is fine but i cant really tell because the monitor won’t come on. Tried another working keyboard still having same problems this one doesnt light up also. I did notice there was a win lock key on the spilled keyboard maybe I hit that key while cleaning it? I never used that key before so i’m not sure what to do. :blush: The working keyboard does not have that key so I dont know how to unlock if that’s the problem. I also tried reconnecting the monitor still no luck. My desktop, monitor and mouse did not get wet it was just the keyboard. Computer was on when I spilled the soymilk. I use a usb keyboard and mouse. Please help this clumsy gal
also tried using F8 key when i turn on computer not working.

If this desk had a second tier, putting the monitor up a level, this would be perfect. What I need is space to put my electric piano and still have my monitor completely visible.

During the summer, more than half my days are on the computer. Most of the time up to 15 hours the most. I think it’s been that way for 2-3 years, I am 15 now. I don’t take breaks, except for some chores, food (which is eaten at the computer desk lol) and restroom. I am quite comfortable those 15 hours a day :] my eyes are never sore. My legs sometimes, but I figure skate 3 times a week. I swear I sit more than 24 inches away from the screen…and I think there is a name for my type of monitor screen, but it’s soft and doesn’t glare..if that means anything.
So, do I expect to start wearing glasses sometime? I went to an eye doctor 3 months ago and I still have 20/20 vision. I just don’t want to suddenly have to wear glasses : (

So i was sitting at my computer and there was an empty glass on the desk that had been sitting there unused for a couple days. Out of nowhere i hear BOOM; large cracks suddenly appeared on the glass though it did not shatter and fall to pieces. Wtf?? I am really freaked out do i have ghosts or can this be explained?? BTW it was quite a cheap glass cup
