My glass desk is cracked, should I stop using it?

Well yesterday my niece was here and I usually don’t have many things on the desk, just my computer and a few books, so there’s a lot of space free, every time she comes she always gets on top of it and jumps to the bed, even though we tell her not to. The glass is about 1/4 inch thick, she’s 4 years old but yesterday the glass cracked a little from the side. Later that day the crack was bigger and this morning every thing’s the same, should I stop using the desk?

Your probably not going to like this answer but I will if nothing else be honest. If you could control your niece and make her mind I would say "No" you don’t need to replace the glass. Simply show her the damage, tell her the risk and danger and that would be enough for most children. In your case the simply telling them not to and doing it anyway will only lead to the child yet again not listening to an authoritative figure and the end result will be harm or injury to the child and nobody wants that. Just remember EVERY child needs discipline, and please don’t think I mean beating because I don’t. Children just need to learn to mind what adults say or pay the consequences such as time out or take something fun away. If however they continue then I would up the punishment. Hope this helps

Yeah, once there is a crack in glass, get a new one. I would recommend just a wooden one.

I would. Glass will continue to crack as you put pressure on it in normal use. Get disobedient niece’s parents to get you a new desk and don’t let the delightful little girl into your room anymore.

Yes the glass will continue to crack unless you get a glass repair kit but, it might be cheaper and easier to Just replace the glass

With a piece of glass that size, I’d try to recycle it. Find another place in the house which can use a smaller top and cut it or have it cut. If there’s any use left in the top, why just throw it away? No one asked the size. Why? Glass that size is not cheap.
